This Wednesday, Yachtshare is hosting an information session at the Royal Queensland Squadron for keen sailors wanting to learn more about our upcoming racing syndicates. The session will provide you with detailed information about the racing syndicates that Yachtshare will offer as well as seek input from prospective syndicate members.
Yachtshare’s Racing program is ideally suited for experienced crew looking to move up to skippering and helming roles without having to go it alone with a yacht purchase. You’ll have the co-operation of your team and the support of Yachtshare to achieve your yacht racing dreams without breaking the bank.
The session will begin with an overview of Yachtshare, a detailed discussion of the racing syndicates and finish with a Q&A and feedback session. There are three racing syndicates currently seeking expressions of interest from yacht racing enthusiasts:
“Speculation” – a dedicated Category 1 racing syndicate for major offshore and inshore racing regattas as well as division yacht racing and WAGS each week. Check out the Yachtshare Racing overview at the Yachtshare website for more details.
“Yachtshare One” – The VX One class of yachting is growing rapidly and looks set to become the leading “Off the Beach” class. Yachtshare is putting together a group of five owners to purchase a VX One to race every weekend at RQYS. A crew roster will ensure the boat enters each week without being a burden for syndicate members.
“Cruiser/Racer” – We haven’t picked a name for this yacht yet but the intention is to purchase a performance cruising yacht for those wanting an option between our existing cruising yachts and the dedicated racing syndicate. This yacht will be set up with our Yachtshare Ten program like other fleet vessels but will be committed to racing at several major events in 2020.
Major races include the Surf to City, Brisbane to Gladstone, Hart Cup/Commodores Ocean Classic and the Brisbane to Hamilton Island Yacht Race. On arrival in the Whitsundays, the yacht will also race at Airlie Beach Race Week and Hamilton Island Race Week. When not racing, the yacht will be used for cruising by shareowners as a typical Yachtshare vessel.
All are welcome and see you in the auditorium at 6:30pm this Wednesday.
